OK, Ok, OK. Things got away but I think you will see why. We successfully MOVED to a fantastic new spot. A true hassle but soooo worth it. We are also slowly evolving in our pricing and our line of products. In honor of our new retail slant we DID NOT TAKE OUR DESIGNER PRICES UP!!! Now EVERYONE gets the same price advantage previously enjoyed by those within the industry. Also, we are adding products at a lower price point and plan to continue to add SELECT items. The prices may be lower but the G du M standard of quality will be maintained. And, I am sceming on a X-Mas Wall that will offer things of beauty for those who have “everything.” Stay tuned. Stop by. Marble with fossil of orthoceras. Very rare. Found only in a small area of desert along the Algerian border.

7”2” H X 5’4” W X 8” D

Approximately 3500 lbs.

Only one in the Western Hemisphere of this size and quality. Great for public art or residential use. But have a strong floor!

On The Horizon (and in the heat)

Summer is hard upon us here in Chicago with the heat of Marrakech and the humidity of Miami. I like it dry!

But we have not slowed down with our planning and plotting. We have two Big Things coming in Aust/September: A Moving Sale and, of course, a Move. Both are coming together and we will be providing details very soon.

Meanwhile, stay comfortable and enjoy the summer.

We are far from dead!! In fact, we are very busy working on a new incarnation of Galerie du Maroc. If you are in Chicago, you will know of it whether you intend to or not. For those of you elsewhere…well, we will show and tell you as things move along.

Business at hand:

Trump SOHO Hotel Spa — Completed!

Landmark/Historic home in San Francisco — Well underway and very exciting.

Still fighting with the weasels at FedEx! Do not ever use them if you care about what you send. They are the epitome of all we are not. The “anti” G-du-M. We try to help. They try to cheat.

Street presence in Chicago developing soon and we are excited about that. Opportunities elsewhere and we will keep you up to date.

Mat and frame them and you have amazing unique art. I think we are the only source of tadrhart in the US.

This is a good thing because it means we are busy. We are in the midst of completing several significant deals. thanks to all of our followers for getting us to this point.

A Warning!!! DO NOT SHIP ANYTHING OF VALUE VIA FED EX!!!!! Two broken items within 25 hours. Sneaky on the insurance. If you are shipping something, definitely shop around and find someone who knows haow to take proper precautions. We used FedEx in the past without incident but this is too much!!

Well, it has been a while due some minor but annoying technical difficulties. But we are back and going stronger than ever!

We have a couple deals in the works that we will be happy to share (brag about!) when they are complete. We have also begun to offer something very special I “discovered” on a trip nearly a year ago. They are true functional art — pieces of finely woven cloth woven by Berber women 70 — 90 years ago to use as scarves, to wrap their babies, etc. When matted and framed, they make stunning art. I wil TRY to attach a photo or two and if you have any questions, let us know.

2010...here we go

Well, it has been a while since I could add to this blog (“Hello…hello,hello,..Is anybody out there? Holidays, Marrakech and Pink Floyd — where else are you going to get that mix?) but I am back after an all too brief trip to Barcelona. To those of you who have not been there, go there. Buenos Aires used to be my pick but BCN is jumping to the front. Of course, Marrakech will ALWAYS be my first pick but I may have missed that one. Here is my best advice, and it is very, very do-able — go through BCN to Marrakech. 3 days in BCN, 3 or more in Marrakech = a lifetime of memories. No way you will not think it was worth it. If you are interested, contact me through this site and I will share my knowledge and make it better than a guidebook would. A lot better.

The world is waiting for you. Pack a bag, shrug your shoulders and say “Why not?”

Then go.

The trip back was a lot more like “Midnight Run” than I was used to, but some zealot on a flight from Amsterdam to Detroit (first of all, who does THAT??!!) slowed things down.

Still travel. Still see the world. Still chat with someone who has no idea what you are saying but sees the smile in your eyes. People are people.

This is my ‘10 wish for all.

Go forth and prosper.
